PhotoVoice Call For Applicants
The PhotoVoice project will take place in Romania - Pitesti Youth Camp
between 31st of July – 14th of August 2010. It aims to promote social
inclusion of the young people with fewer opportunities through the
non-formal education method, PhotoVoice. The project will create an
intercultural context where participants coming from a disadvantaged
environment can debate on the challenges raised by the actual and future
society: marginalisation of young people from the Roma and immigrant
communities. The participants are 30 young people from Romania and Norway
sharing a common problem : marginalisation.
They will have the opportunity to experience the intercultural dialogue, to
develop abilities of social integration, to become aware of the European
environment and opportunities. One of the main project objectives is to help
the young participants to become aware of their own needs, cultural
environment and heritage and to learn to express them through various
non-formal education methods, in particular the PhotoVoice method.
The project encourages teamwork, interaction between young people and
stimulates their creativity, self-confidence, communication skills and their
initiative spirit. It also envisages to amplify the respect for cultural
diversity and fighting against discrimination and ethnical barriers. One
important expected result is raising awareness towards marginalisation of
Roma and immigrant communities through a large exhibition in both of the
countries as a result of another twin project, complementary to this one.
The twin project will be financed by the Norwegian Government, will work
with the same participants and it will be focused on the artistic expression
side of PhotoVoice.
